More aqueducts?! It’s been fascinating to learn about the old infrastructure hiding beyond the main roads. It’s not that it surprises me much that there were aqueducts in use in Massachusetts, but it surprises me that they’re still here, like grass-covered ancient cities.
And closing out this first month of my RunningMA project I learned another valuable lesson: Review the route details before heading out on the run. Apparently I had created this route when there was no snow. Then one day when I decided “let’s go for a few miles in Wayland and Weston” I didn’t revisit the route to ensure that it was roads. Snow is not as tiring as sand, and it was cold enough that my feet were not soaked by slush. This was a run I needed mentally to combat a rough day and a bad mood, so it was grand to catch the sun between the trees and to enjoy a solo jaunt in a new place.
