This run, a 2.72-mile loop starting and ending at the Nelson Memorial Library in North Grafton, was cold. It was condensation-freezing-on-my-face-mask cold. It was, wow-I’ve-made-a-bad-choice-today cold. And yet, as the towns runs continued through several more years (and with them more winter months), I faced even colder runs. This real-feel of 4F was unpleasant, and I felt bad for my grumpiness during the run, like I wasn’t giving the run the positive attention it deserved. However, I then remembered that not all workouts (running or otherwise) are pleasant, and it doesn’t always make sense to wait for ideal conditions. These were the true conditions in this section of Grafton and Shrewsbury on this day, with the blindingly sharp wind, icy road shoulder, and rough hill.
